The Harvest Activity Center
A Place for Sharing
Harvest for Humanity will construct the Harvest Activity Center that will serve as the center point of the community. The Harvest Blueberry Store will have a professionally designed gift store near the main entrance of the Center. Employees will work in a commercial-type kitchen to prepare value-added blueberry items to be sold in the Blueberry Store, through the Internet site, and by mail order. A large multipurpose room at the Harvest Activity Center will function as the center for an after school program provided by a local resource agency and a special occasion dining facility for community residents. Central mail delivery is located at the Center where homeowners can enjoy interaction with each other via a morning coffee bar and an evening dessert bar.
Special Feature Points of the Harvest Activity Center
- Harvest Activity Center will be open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm daily
- After-school program organized by Catholic Charities
- Jubilation Community Association monthly meetings
- Monthly Jubilation community potluck dinners
- Dream Vision equipment available in large multipurpose room for biweekly "movie night" for Jubilation residents
- Computer Resource Center including Internet access available at no cost to Jubilation community residents
- Blueberry U-Pick incorporated into the Jubilation development at the suggestion of individuals at the Collier County Department of Planning and the Southwest Florida Empowerment Alliance to enhance the development of the eco-tourism industry in Immokalee
- Harvest Blueberry Store, a new company started by Harvest for Humanity to sell blueberry u-pick and Harvest Farm products and related items. This company will be sold to the employees with a no-profit, no-interest loan after three years of training and experience
