Jubilation... |
If we have learned one thing about being human, it is that need for community contributes to an awareness of ourselves. Whether we feel disconnected or connected, apart from or a part of, fearful or safe, we know that this is primarily based on what is happening in our community. Jubilation represents a new vision of community. Once there was a time when people lived and worked and went to school in places that were a short distance from each other, and neighbors knew each other by their first names. Once there were neighborhoods that could accommodate people of all ages and income levels. Once strong meanings and emotions surrounded the phrase "close-knit community." It is not the intent of Jubilation to look back, but to acknowledge and embrace our growing diversity so neighborhoods and houses function in a way that beckons us to come together in a new spirit of community. Jubilation is a 40-acre, master-planned, mixed-income community designed around the principals of a Traditional Neighborhood Development. Jubilation consists of three distinct neighborhoods including a plaza-style Harvest Activity Center and a Blueberry U-pick area. Throughout the community a park and tracts of open spaces serve as conservation areas that help to define each of the neighborhoods. Linking much of Jubilation is an element that has all but disappeared from the modern American Landscape; tree-lined living courts in the front of the homes with sidewalks and no vehicles. The basis of Jubilation is partnering between people. Houses, neighborhoods, offices, recreation sites, a conservation preserve - none of these exist in a vacuum, all of them form the basis of community. By partnering with each other, people become more closely engaged with their surroundings and with one another. Jubilation feels like home. |
